A partner at the firm, David Gelfand brings years of courtroom experience to the Law Offices of Jason Goldman, having served as both a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney over the last decade. His practice focuses on representing clients facing complex state and federal charges, as well as individuals and businesses involved in high-stakes civil litigation. David is not only a proven trial lawyer — he is also a meticulous legal strategist whose deep research, analytical precision, and persuasive writing strengthen every stage of a case.

With years of high-level experience, David has become known for mastering intricate factual records, dissecting complex statutory and constitutional issues, and crafting compelling motions and briefs that shape the trajectory of a case long before trial. Whether litigating suppression issues, challenging indictments, or preparing for cross-examination, David combines intellectual rigor with strategic judgment and trial-ready execution.

Prior to joining the firm, David practiced at two internationally recognized criminal defense firms in New York City, which during his time served as counsel for various high-profile figures such as Sean Combs and Luigi Mangione.  David has defended clients investigated for or charged with serious offenses, including healthcare fraud, tax fraud, PPP and EIDL fraud, drug trafficking, weapons possession, and homicide. He has extensive experience guiding matters through every phase of litigation — from pre-indictment investigations and grand jury proceedings to motion practice, trial, sentencing, and post-conviction advocacy. David has tried multiple cases to verdict in both state and federal courts and has also handled complex appellate matters.

David began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, one of the busiest prosecutorial offices in the country. There, he prosecuted a broad spectrum of misdemeanor and felony cases, managing them from investigation and arraignment through motion practice, evidentiary hearings, trial, and verdict. His prosecutorial background provides him with invaluable insight into how cases are developed, charged, and tried — insight he now leverages to anticipate the government’s strategy and defend his clients with precision and force.

Clients value David not only for his courtroom skill, but for his clarity, preparation, and steady advocacy in high-pressure situations. He is a lawyer who believes that successful trial work begins with disciplined research, careful writing, and relentless preparation — and that the strongest defense is built long before a jury is ever sworn.
